A day in the life

You start your shift by reviewing the CMMS queue and prioritizing preventive and predictive tasks to keep production steady. A call comes in about a conveyor drive fault—you trace it through the wiring diagram, verify the VFD parameters, and get the line moving again. Later, you swap a gearbox, align a motor, and fine-tune a sensor on a PLC-controlled station. Before wrap-up, you log all work orders, flag a potential hydraulic leak for follow-up, and coordinate with production on a plan to reduce repeat downtime.

What you'll own

  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across plant machinery and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to restore equipment rapidly.
  • Diagnose and repair motors, VFDs, conveyors, gearboxes, control panels, and related components.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to guide repairs and installations.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Fabricate / assemble parts using hand tools, welding, and basic machining as needed.
  • Partner with production and engineering to minimize downtime and elevate reliability.
  • Document all maintenance activities and close work orders in the CMMS with accuracy.
  • Champion safety procedures; identify, report, and mitigate hazards.
  • Support production by working occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or GED (technical / trade certification preferred).
  • 3–5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude plus solid electrical knowledge.
  • Hands-on skill with AC / DC motors, VFDs, and control circuits.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems.
  • Ability to read / interpret blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with CMMS software.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work actively on the plant floor.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and varied shifts as required.
  • Tools and technologies you'll encounter

  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • Conveyor Systems
  • Servo Motors
