STE(A)M Truck is an award-winning mobile makerspace that brings hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math experiences directly to schools and communities. Position Overview

Are you a teacher or educator who believes students learn best when they can build, explore, and experiment? Were looking for part-time Engagement Specialists to help lead dynamic, hands-on STE(A)M programs that inspire K-12 youth. If you're passionate about making learning realand funwed love to have you on the team.

Start Date : June 2025

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Delivery

  • Facilitate engaging, hands-on STEM and arts-based lessons for groups of 2050 K12 students
  • Guide students through design challenges and project-based learning experiences
  • Align sessions with STE(A)M Trucks educational mission and learning outcomes
  • 2. Event Support

  • Assist with setup and breakdown of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Help maintain positive energy, safety, and engagement throughout programming
  • Collaborate with team members and volunteers to deliver high-quality experiences
  • 3. Youth Engagement

  • Build meaningful relationships with students to boost confidence and creativity
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners
  • Respond to student needs and behavior with empathy and professionalism
  • 4. Logistical Support

  • Keep program materials organized and ready for each session
  • Help manage pacing, transitions, and activity flow during sessions
  • 5. Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with fellow educators and staff to meet program goals
  • Share feedback on activities to help improve impact and student engagement
  • Qualifications

  • Education : Degree in education, STEM, arts, or youth development.
  • Experience :
  • At least 1 year working with youth in a classroom, afterschool, or camp setting

  • Experience leading STEM or hands-on enrichment activities preferred
  • Skills :
  • Confident classroom management and group facilitation

  • Strong communication and rapport-building with youth
  • Comfort with tools, tech, or creative materials (training provided)
  • Organized, flexible, and enthusiastic
  • Physical and Schedule Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (materials and equipment).
  • Available to work Monday through Fri 8 : 30 AM3 PM, with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to program sites as needed
