Summary

Here is a growing sawmill looking for a production manager in Iowa. This is a green sawmill feeding our dry kilns at an off-site location (within the organization). Production manager would oversee the production of the sawmill to ensure high quality products are being made efficiently, safely, and on time within budget. This position is an on the production floor position meaning most of the working day will be spent on the production floor ensuring production is meeting company goals & needs. The individual needs to have a strong comprehensive understanding of production and manufacturing. The individual is expected to need minimal supervision, self-directed, strong communication skills.

Requirements :

• Leadership : Abilities to manage a mill of 15-20 people. Driving a culture based on trust, respect, & motivating the team to drive objectives.
• Mechanical : Troubleshooting issues with equipment, understand how the setworks work on head saw, resaw, edger, etc.
• Expereince : A minimum of at least 2-3 years of experience as a production manager / supervisor in a working sawmill.
• Basic Computer Skills : Abilities to navigate Lewis Control software systems and Excel Worksheets.
• Willingness to grow : There is a great potential for this position to lead to a Sawmill Manager role.
• Production : Ability to manage production of 600K to 1m BF of hardwood per month.
• Species : Knowledge of either hardwood of softwood sawmill manufacturing.
• Inventory : organizational skills to manage inventory levels.
