Job description

Our client, a prestigious California-based law firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Trial Litigation Attorney to join their high-performing litigation team.

This is a prime opportunity for a seasoned trial attorney with a passion for complex civil litigation to take charge of high-stakes cases and lead junior attorneys while managing significant caseloads.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in civil litigation and demonstrate a track record of leading cases to verdict, including extensive trial experience in California State Superior Court.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Independently manage a high-exposure caseload from inception through verdict, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, trial preparation, and post-trial work.
  • Serve as lead counsel in mediations, arbitrations, and civil jury trials, handling voir dire, expert selection, and all phases of courtroom advocacy.
  • Draft and argue motions in both trial and pre-trial settings.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, experts, and opposing counsel, ensuring smooth case progression and client satisfaction.
  • Mentor and lead junior attorneys and litigation support staff to develop their trial skills and enhance overall team performance.
  • Provide strategic direction in complex legal matters, advising clients on risk, potential litigation outcomes, and key legal issues.

Qualifications :

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California Bar .
  • Minimum 10 years of litigation experience, with at least 7 years in civil litigation .
  • First-chair trial experience in at least 3 civil jury trials and 5 bench trials in California State Superior Court .
  • Ability to travel within California for court appearances and trials.

    • Preferred Experience :

  • Federal court practice and procedure.
  • Strong background in jury selection and expert witness management .
  • Experience managing up to 20 active litigation matters simultaneously.
  • Mediation and arbitration experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience handling Product Liability, Employment Law, Personal Injury , or Complex Civil Litigation matters.

    • Skills :

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Proven leadership ability in managing legal teams and mentoring junior attorneys.
  • Deep familiarity with California Superior Courts ; federal court experience is a plus.

    • Salary & Benefits :

  • Salary Range : $225,000 to $275,000, depending on experience.
