This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of spacecraft development engineers, you will contribute to the development of the Guidance, Navigation & Control system for the Transporter vehicle by designing and implementing on-board guidance algorithms, both in simulations and flight software, along with coordinating and performing trajectory design analyses with the Mission Design team. You will support the full design lifecycle from preliminary system analysis over software implementation and testing to flight. You will work closely with GN&C engineers and other teams such as software, systems engineering, and mission operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Provide technical leadership to coordinate mission level trajectory design and derive guidance optimization efforts between GN&C and Mission Design.
• Provide technical leadership to GN&C system design efforts for RPOD and orbital maneuvers in LEO, EEO and NRHO as subject matter expert on mission design and trajectory optimization, using tools such as Copernicus, STK, OTIS or MONTE
• Lead the development of tooling pipelines for automated trajectory design and guidance algorithm optimization
• Develop and maintain both established and bespoke guidance algorithms for orbital maneuvers in various Earth and cis-lunar orbits, including rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking (RPOD) maneuvers
• Perform trade studies for maneuver targeting sequences, and nominal and contingency maneuvers for RPOD
• Provide technical leadership to flight software and simulation through complete development lifecycle
• Integrate and test software in SIL and HIL environments
• Implement guidance algorithms and subsystem component models in an integrated 6-DOF simulation environment using C / C++ and Python
• Provide technical leadership to detailed implementation of vehicle rigid body dynamics and orbital dynamics models using NASA JEOD
• Develop maneuver planning and linear covariance analysis tools for various mission phases, including rendezvous
• Develop toolset for automated requirement, configuration, and performance analyses
• Support internal and external reviews with data products and reports
• Mentor GN&C engineers in aspects of mission design and trajectory optimization, and mission designers in aspects of GN&C design

CO applicants is $168,414.00-$235,778.55;WA applicants is $177,857.00-$248,999.10
