Job Summary :
The RN-IBCLC provides direct lactation care and education to patients and staff to ensure that a high-quality, cost-effective service is delivered. This role is responsible for providing comprehensive, advanced and specialized health services across the continuum of the patient's lactation experience. This requires them to have the ability to work collaboratively with the Maternity Women's Health Services to identify lactation and breastfeeding problems and create a comprehensive lactation / breastfeeding plan of care. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to patient and staff education, a comprehensive consultation and partnerships with the IBCLC team and health care resources within our organization, network and community.
Job Responsibilities :
Assesses for lactation / breastfeeding challenges. Works with providers to establish an individual plan of action that includes interventions, counseling, feeding observations and recommendations for managing the lactation / breastfeeding difficulties.
Qualifications
Current Connecticut RN License.
Experience with breastfeeding dyad.
1 year in maternal child health
Certified Lactation Counselor or IBCLC preferred
Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
