To : All Teaching and Administrative Personnel Brockton Public SchoolsFrom : Dr. Kathleen Moran Executive Director of Human ResourcesSubject : Elementary ESL Curriculum Committee COMMITTEE OVERVIEWThe ESL Curriculum Committee is a year-long curriculum project designed to build teacher leadership capacity while adapting and enhancing curriculum and resources for our ESL program. Committee members will work collaboratively to align already identified curriculum and priority texts to WIDA standards across content areas with consideration to key language uses language expectations and instructional is an opportunity for experienced and emerging ESL educators to deepen their expertise in ESL curriculum and WIDA standards alignmentPROGRAM STRUCTURETimeline : November 2025 July 2026 (9 months)Time Commitment : 60 - 80 hours total20 - 30 hours of collaborative meetings (with possibilities of meeting after school in person and / or virtual up to two days over February and April break and up to 3 days at the end of the school year- the team will schedule collectively)40 - 50 hours independent curriculum workCOMPENSATIONCompensation : (60 - 80 hours contractual rate $39.70)Funding Source : Title III - 181 GrantQUALIFICATIONSCurrent Elementary ESL teacher providing instruction to ISEI EL students or Elementary Language Acquisition CoachMassachusetts ESL licenseExperience teaching Elementary ESL - WondersWillingness to learn and apply WIDA standards Ability to work independently and meet deadlinesCommitment to contributing to department-wide curriculum coherenceNote : This opportunity is open to both veteran and newer ESL teachers. We are seeking a mix of experience Development : Align ESL units / priority texts and writing tasks to WIDA StandardsIdentify Key Language Uses and Language ExpectationsUpdate Elementary ESL Scope and Sequence Priority Text / Writing Tasks and unit resources to align with changes / newly identified standards key language uses and language expectationsParticipate in peer review and revision cyclesCollaboration & Learning : Attend all collaborative meetings with Pre-k-12 Bilingual Coordinator and other Curriculum Committee membersCollaborate in structured peer review and provide constructive feedback on colleagues curriculum draftsDeliverables : Elementary ESL Scope and SequenceElementary ESL Priority Texts and Writing Tasks documentUnit resources
