Job description
  • For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local and national teams. In this role, your responsibilities will include developing instrumentation and controls designs (P&IDs, network diagrams, specifications, and control strategies). The role requires the ability to integrate and apply Brown and Caldwell's service offerings and talent to help our clients solve their most challenging issues.
  • Detailed Description :

    • Develop or expand skills to prepare P&IDs, and control system network architecture design documents for industrial automation projects.
    • Develop or expand skills to prepare specifications and control strategies for industrial projects for municipal and industrial clients.
    • Support discipline engineering level services during construction (ESDCs) including construction submittal review, response to requests for information, and change order management.
    • Work and communicate effectively with other disciplines, task leaders, project managers and with teams in local and remote (virtual) environments.
    • Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums
    • Desired Skills and Experience :

    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering degree relevant to process automation control system work.
    • Professional Registration as a PE preferred or in pursuit of obtaining PE.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience as an instrumentation and control design engineer for government, municipal, and / or industrial water and wastewater projects, or industrial private-sector clients such as pharmaceutical, chemical, food products, petrochemical, or pulp and paper industries preferred. Strong preference will be given to water and wastewater experience.
    • Experience in design and process automation systems. Testing and startup of industrial process automation systems is a plus.
    • Experience with control hardware, control architecture design, and programming software for Allen Bradley, Schneider, ABB DCS or similar is a plus.
    • Experience in industrial process automation systems design, Fieldbus and other communication technologies, instrumentation installation, cybersecurity, or network design is a plus.
    • Experience in AutoCAD, AutoCAD P&ID, and / or Revit is a plus.
    • Knowledge and understanding of electrical safety systems, NFPA 70E is a plus.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines.
    • Travel away from the home office is anticipated from time to time given the nature of the project design and construction support responsibilities.
    • Comfortable and effective with clients and contractors as direct interface.
    • Position can be in-person, hybrid, or remote.
    • Salary Range : The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

      Location A : $78,000- $106,000

      Location B : $85,000- $116,000
