Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit.

The unit has 30 beds with patient ratios of 1 : 6 to 1 : 7.

RNs must be comfortable with a patient ratio that can go up to 1 : 7.

Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, and urosepsis.

The unit is staffed with Patient Care Technicians.

A Charge Nurse is present on the floor with assignments.

RNs are required to titrate heparin drips based on APTT results.

There is no ventilator support in this unit.

BIPAP equipment is used intermittently for respiratory support.

Telemetry is monitored remotely by other staff.

Scheduling will be managed through a specific system.

RNs are typically scheduled for half of the weekends and holidays as needed.

No standby or call requirements are in place for this position.

Floating to other units may occur based on census, with travelers floated first.

Scrub color for this position is navy blue.

The charting system utilized is EPIC.

A BSN is not required for this position.
