About The Serra Preschool (TSP)
The Serra Preschool is a distinguished preschool known for its commitment to excellence in early childhood education, the cultivation of a tight-knit community, and a strong tradition of preparing children for continued success. Embracing a methodology employing play-based learning within a Catholic framework, TSP is dedicated to fostering spiritual, emotional, academic, and social growth, ensuring each child experiences the joy of learning and is on the road for a meaningful life.

Position Summary
The Toddler Teacher plays an essential role in bringing "The Serra Way" to life in the classroom each day. This educator will collaborate closely with a co-teacher to create a safe, loving, and developmentally rich environment for toddlers. The ideal candidate is an experienced, warm, consistent, and attuned caregiver who understands toddler development deeply and approaches each child as a unique individual created by God. This role requires a teacher who supports TSP's Catholic identity, demonstrates strong relationship-building skills with families and colleagues, and embraces play-based, experiential learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Mission-Aligned Instruction
Implement developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum for toddlers. Model spiritual framework in age-appropriate ways.

• Classroom Teaching and Child Development
Create a nurturing, structured, and joyful classroom environment where toddlers feel secure, loved, and inspired to explore. Plan and facilitate play-based learning that supports exploration, emerging independence, and joyful learning. Observe, document, and support each child's developmental progress across emotional, social, cognitive, and physical domains. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that meets licensing standards and reflects TSP's mission and values.

• Partnership with Families
Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents and caregivers. Communicate thoughtfully and consistently about each child's experiences, developmental growth, and emerging needs.

• Collaboration and Team Teaching
Work closely with a co-teacher to ensure a cohesive classroom culture grounded in shared expectations and mission alignment.

• Community Engagement
Contribute to an inclusive and welcoming school community that reflects TSP's spiritual and educational mission. Participate in occasional school events and community gatherings as appropriate for faculty.

Expected Outcomes the First Year

• Maintain a Mission Aligned Classroom: The preschool environment integrates Catholic values and play-based learning.

• Build Strong Relationships: Children experience consistent, warm, and attuned care; families develop trust and confidence in the teacher.

• Team Teach Effectively: A strong, collaborative partnership with co-teachers and staff supports a unified classroom culture.

• Promote Developmentally Rich Learning: Toddlers show joyful engagement, social-emotional growth, and readiness for the next educational stage.

Key Competencies and Character Qualities

• Understanding of Child Development
Demonstrates knowledge of early childhood development and the specific learning needs of toddlers within a play-based framework.

• Emotional Intelligence and Attunement
