A law firm located in downtown Manhattan is looking for a full-time Billing Manager to join our Accounting Department. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Billing Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all invoices are accurate & sent in a timely manner. This role requires a strong understanding of law firm billing practices, client guidelines & e-billing systems. The Billing Manager works closely with attorneys, clients & the accounting team to streamline billing processes, resolve discrepancies & support the firm's financial goals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the billing process for all firm timekeepers, ensuring timely and accurate preparation and submission of invoices.
- Oversee the billing team, providing leadership, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to firm policies.
- Review and approve pre-bills and final bills, ensuring compliance with client billing requirements and e-billing systems.
- Coordinate with attorneys to resolve billing discrepancies, client adjustments, or special billing requests.
- Maintain and monitor billing schedules, ensuring deadlines are met for monthly and quarterly billing cycles.
- Manage electronic billing platforms (e-billing), ensuring successful uploads, troubleshooting rejections, and maintaining accurate matter setups.
- Partner with the collections team to ensure timely follow-up and cash flow management.
- Implement process improvements to streamline billing operations and enhance client satisfaction.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.5+ years of law firm billing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.Proficiency with legal billing software (e.g., Aderant, Rippe, or similar systems).Experience with e-billing systems and client-specific billing portals, as well as BillBlast, is a plusExcel skills such as basic formulas, including vlookups, as well as utilizing pivot tablesStrong knowledge of timekeeping & billing compliance in a law firm environment.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced setting.High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.Salary : $100,000 plus annual bonus plan
