About This Opportunity
The Lead Community Organizer In Training program is a new, cutting edge program designed to train individuals to lead within diverse congregations and to recruit thousands of people for public actions. DART / BUILD have a track record of major community wins and power-building across Lexington, KY, including interfaith organizing and campaigns that address housing, transportation, climate resilience, and criminal justice reform.
What you will get from the training :
- Formal training and personal development in power analysis, grassroots fundraising, campaign development, policy research, operations management, negotiations, staff leadership, base-building, board oversight, and membership recruitment.
- Mentorship and coaching with individualized guidance from DART's Director of Organizing and opportunities to shadow experienced organizers.
- Networking and relationship-building within a regional cohort of organizers.
- Contributing to concrete community impacts, such as advancing microtransit, eldercare access, and affordable housing initiatives in Fayette County.
Primary Responsibilities
Build engagement in the community and train faith leaders to engage others and recruit new leaders and congregations.Drive forward campaigns on community problems by training grassroots leaders to identify issues, conduct research, and develop action plans; organize public actions of 1,000+ people.Fundraise from local sources by coordinating an annual 6-8 week fundraising drive with grassroots leaders; ensure dues from member congregations are collected.Who You Are

You are ambitious, value strong relationships, and are excited about working with faith communities to live out the call to "do justice." You are comfortable working with people who hold differing views and are committed to finding common ground. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, including fluent Spanish speakers.
