Overview

The Outside Sales Representative has the critical job of introducing potential customers to our renewal energy products and works with them to select and purchase products. Preparing sales materials, coordinating appointments, and maintaining communication between clients and the sales team. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, and has a basic understanding of solar energy products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist outside sales representatives in managing and growing customer accounts.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, site visits, and client meetings.
  • Prepare proposals, quotes, and sales presentations under direction of sales staff.
  • Maintain customer records and update CRM systems with relevant information.
  • Follow up with clients post-meeting to ensure satisfaction and collect required documentation.
  • Support lead generation efforts through outreach, research, and marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., engineering, logistics) to support project execution.
  • Attend trade shows, industry events, or customer meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Permissions

Authority to resolve customer complaints.

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year university in Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, Marketing, Business, or other related field required.
  • Fluency in English required
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • Competencies

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a sales support or customer service role is a plus.
  • Interest or knowledge in renewable energy or solar products preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Acceptable level of proficiency in communication to collaborate effectively with customers and coworkers.
  • Capacity to quickly learn required skills, such as basic office equipment and selected company software programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret complex figures and text.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Work Environment

    The work environment for the position includes a variety of indoor and outdoor environments including customer sites, trade shows / conference centers, enclosed offices, and workshop production floor. Must be able to spend time traveling locally and occasionally attend outdoor site visits.

    Valid driver’s license required.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands of the position include walking, standing, reaching, and sitting, on a regular basis; ability to speak and hear; ability to visually detect product color and shading variation; lifting objects from one level to another; entering text or data via keyboard into a computer; seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with the hands; ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and / or sounds.
