Radiologic Technologist
Department : Radiology FLSA Status : Non- Exempt
Reports to : Radiology Supervisor
Position Summary
The Staff Radiologic Technologist has the responsibility for public relations in dealing with
patients, hospital personnel, providers, and others; as well as providing services of the radiology
department to the general public.
Essential Functions
- Works under the direction and guidance of the Radiologist and Providers; with
regard to radiographic examinations.
Positions and transfers patients.Provides immobilization devices as required.Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis for each patient.Seeks consultation / collaboration for complex issues or when unsure, while utilizing resources appropriately.Selects and operates equipment as to proper technique using ionizing radiation.Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.Wears a radiation monitor badge at all times.Administers IV contrast media &. go / o sodium chloride.Responsible for the delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine orspecial procedures.
Assists in performing first aid duties as necessary.Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination.Maintains adequate records.Maintains clean work area, facility and equipment.Keeps a log for documenting who assists in holding patients during examsincluding : person's name, date, technique used & if lead shielding was worn.
Performs Digital Radiography, Bone Density, CT, Holter Monitor & OP EKG.Ultrasounds are optional for some technologists.Enters all patient information into CCMSD's EMRRadiologists to Interpret. Scans results into CCMSD's EMR.During the nights sends STAT exams to Real Radiology, fills out the patient'sinformation on their website; and scans the result into CCMSD's EMR.
Makes sure Bone Density, CT, EKG, Holter Monitor, MRI, ultrasound &X-rayexams performed at CCMSD are billed out through CCMSD's EMR.
Performs Outpatient EKG's. Makes sure EKGs are billed out for Sundance OP,IP & ED, Moorcroft Clinic & Hulett Clinic through CCMSD's EMR.
Performs Holter Monitors. Sends the recording via Philips Holter Remote Link.Required to participate in all mandatory in-services and in-services pertaining toradiology and meet the educational requirements to be licensed to take
radiographs.
Logs all patients and exams performed on a shared daily log.Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of areas in the department.Maintains confidentiality.Keeps department stocked with linen & supplies at all times.Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.Follows all CCMSD's Policies, Procedures & Guidelines.Maintains ethical working relationships.Responsible for upkeep of all equipment.Reports to Supervisor Technologist regarding the condition of the radiologydepartment.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor Technologist.Qualifications / Education
Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirement for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.Must meet the current State of Wyoming licensure requirements.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent patient care skills.Professional and discrete manner at all times.Must be able to work as part of a team and within the areas of "ionizing radiation."Ability to work as a team player at all times.Possess strong grasp of clinical work flow in a hospital setting. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.Diagnostic Experience.Computed Tomography Experience.Holter Monitor & Electrocardiogram Experience or willing to be trained.Experience with Electronic Health Records Program, Outlook and other Microsoft Office Programs preferred.Hours of Work - Shift Work / On Call
