Athletic Program Coordinator

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Athletics Supervisor, the Athletics Coordinator assists in planning, organizing, and delivering athletic programs, leagues, and tournaments for youth and adults in Greenville. This role involves supervising part-time staff and volunteers, managing assigned athletic facilities, and providing operational support for evening, weekend, and holiday programming. The Athletic Coordinator ensures a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for participants while supporting community outreach and promotional efforts.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and oversee athletic leagues, recreational programs, and tournaments for youth and adults, including scheduling, registration, and league communications.
  • Supervise employees, volunteers, and sports officials during program and facility operations; assist with hiring, training, and ongoing coaching as needed.
  • Provide on-site supervision during athletic programs and facility rentals, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
  • Manage facility scheduling and reservations in coordination with the Athletics Supervisor, ensuring appropriate field/facility use and assisting with maintenance requests and event setup.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and compliments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate program records, accident reports, and participation data; assist with evaluations and recommendations for program improvements.
  • Enforce facility and program rules, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and departmental standards.
  • Support special events, citywide initiatives, and seasonal programs as assigned.
  • Assists in securing league sponsorships and building community relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation, and sports management, business, or public administration; or related field supplemented by three years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in the recreation and leisure industry; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary depending on events on schedule.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of recreation and athletic program coordination.
  • League and tournament operations including scheduling, rules, and participant management.
  • Safety and risk management procedures applicable to recreational and athletic activities.
  • Rules, regulations, and best practices for a variety of sports.
  • Customer service and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Basic computer functions and software required.

Starting Pay Rate:$23.23 Hourly/$48,318.40 Annually Hours: Fulltime
