Responsibilities

Program Overview

Youth Villages’ Residential Treatment programs serve children with emotional and behavioral problems.  Our residential campuses provide the setting for an intensive treatment program that combines the unique balance of structure and freedom. This enables children and their families to identify, understand and cope with their individual needs and develop the skills necessary to succeed in less restrictive settings.  We have three different types of facilities—Intensive Residential Centers, Open Campuses, and Group Homes.  Located in Tennessee, Georgia, and Massachusetts all of these facilities utilize the Re-Education of Emotionally Disturbed Children therapy model (Re-Ed).

Position Overview

The Night Monitor Supervisor Assistant is responsible for supervising the Night Monitors.

Respond to crisis situations on campus.

Work with Behavioral Youth Counselors and Crisis Team Members to deescalate critical situations.

Communicate and Process with Youth experiencing behavioral or emotional struggles.

Engage with youth and staff in a milieu setting.

Improve youths’ behaviors through coping skills and other therapeutic interventions.

Verbally de-escalate youth and teens in crisis situations.

Utilize therapeutic holds if necessary to physically intervene in order to maintain safety.

Provide feedback and training to other milieu staff regarding crisis management.

Teach and model appropriate behaviors and life skills.

Qualifications

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED is required.

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience working with at risk youth is a major plus.

Rapid critical decision making skills to manage and de-escalate youth and teens in crisis situations.

Accustomed to structure, coaching, relationship building, and providing positive reinforcement.

Utilize strong verbal communication skills to engage troubled youth and teens.

Strong leadership, planning, and teamwork experience is essential.

Ability to actively intervene during a crisis situation when necessary.

Highly motivated and committed to achieve our mission of serving youth with severe emotional and behavioral issues.

Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
