American Traveler is hiring a skilled RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring strong EKG interpretation skills, Epic EMR experience, and an active IA or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position based on a hospital Med / Surg Telemetry unit with a bed capacity of 130Patient ratios are 1 : 6 on the unitResponsibilities include managing cardiac drips such as heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxinUnit requires monitoring of telemetry patients and interpretation of EKG / ECG rhythms and dysrhythmiasEpic EMR is utilized and prior Epic experience is requiredPossible float to Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, ICU, and some post-procedural areasCandidates must be willing to work two of three major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving) in 2025Limit of one day off request allowed during the holiday periods of 11 / 26 / 25-11 / 30 / 25 and 12 / 23 / 25-1 / 2 / 26Nurses will manage and titrate multiple cardiac drips and perform advanced telemetry responsibilitiesTeam-based interdisciplinary environment with possible float coverage to other critical hospital areasCandidates must successfully complete training on cardiac dysrhythmias and annual education modulesFirst-time travelers are welcome if experience requirements are metOne supervisory reference from within the past two years is required for considerationAnnual educational modules with embedded test questions are mandatoryReturned employees may not have worked at the facility within the past 12 months\n \n Requirements\n
Active Iowa or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years recent experience in Med Surg, Tele, or Med / Tele nursingFirst-time travelers accepted if they have at least 3 years of RN experienceCertifications required : ACLS (AHA), BLS, NIHSS, and a de-escalation certificate (CPI, MOAB, or MAB)Must be able to read and interpret EKG / ECG rhythms and perform all telemetry-related tasksEpic EMR experience requiredCandidates must be able to complete a two-day class on cardiac dysrhythmias and pass a test, with annual completion of additional educational modulesCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
