Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Telemetry position in the Visual Monitor Unit, requiring Level I trauma and med / surg experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Visual Monitor Unit (VMU), an acute care Med / Surg / Telemetry setting with a focus on patients with secondary psychiatric diagnoses
  • Unit has 14 beds with typical patient ratios of 1 : 4
  • Patient population includes those with confusion, dementia, or low cognitive ability, and often a mental health component
  • Required to work 12-hour day shifts (7am-7pm), with four weekend shifts per four-week period and two out of four major holidays
  • Use of Cerner EMR
  • May float to ED psych holds or MedSurg floors as needed
  • Floor-specific orientation provided over two shifts
  • Responsibilities include caring for medical and behavioral health patients, completing frequent safety monitoring, and managing complex med / surg / tele cases
  • Security monitors the unit via video and behavior health techs support the care team
  • Charge nurse takes patients; IV team (SWAT RN), RT, and pharmacy support available 24 / 7
  • First day SIMs Lab is pass / fail and nurses are expected to maintain sterile technique
  • Staff wear navy scrubs and carry panic buttons
  • Rare physical restraints; use of chemical restraints when necessary
  • Must not have been employed at any CommonSpirit facility in the past year
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience with Level I trauma experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Dysrhythmia exam (Relias) must be passed prior to offer, with two attempts allowed
  • SIMs Lab skills assessment for sterile technique, Foley insertion, and central line dressing changes must be passed on first day
  • Psychiatric experience preferred but not required
  • Must provide two professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
