As the primary communications business partner to the Government and Regulatory Affairs team, this role is accountable for all aspects of strategic communications that advance NRG's policy, advocacy, and regulatory objectives. This role will shape and delivery messaging that strengthens NRG's reputation with policymakers, regulators, and key stakeholders; drives understanding of market leadership and business strategy; and fosters alignment across audiences. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor, shaping messaging to ensure a consistent narrative that drives engagement across a diverse set of teams and geographies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy in support of federal, state, and local policy and advocacy goals. Ensure narratives consistently position the business as a market leader and trusted partner.
• Provide strategic counsel and hands-on support. Shape speeches, presentations, media engagements, and stakeholder communications that reinforce company leadership, visibility, and credibility.
• Translate complex market and policy topics into clear, compelling stories for policymakers, media, and the public.
• Partner closely with leaders to deliver consistent, coordinated messaging. Build bridges between corporate functions and business-unit priorities.
• Lead communications that connect diverse, geographically dispersed stakeholders to company strategy and messaging.
• Deliver timely, transparent, and confident messaging that preserves trust and confidence.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a communications team and agency partners. Foster a high standard of creativity, accountability, and operational excellence.
