Job description

Morehouse General Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate OB-GYN Physician to join our growing healthcare team. Located in Bastrop, Louisiana—just 30 minutes from Monroe—our hospital offers the opportunity to practice a full range of obstetrics and gynecology in a supportive, community-based setting.

The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive women’s health services, including prenatal, labor and delivery, postpartum, gynecologic, and surgical care. This role requires a dedication to patient-centered medicine, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and a passion for improving health outcomes for women across all life stages.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Provide complete obstetric care, including prenatal visits, deliveries (vaginal and cesarean), and postpartum follow-up.

Perform gynecologic exams, screenings, and preventive health services.

Diagnose and manage gynecologic conditions, including infections, menstrual disorders, infertility, and menopause-related concerns.

Perform gynecologic surgeries, including minimally invasive procedures, as appropriate.

Collaborate with nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.

Educate patients on reproductive health, family planning, and lifestyle choices.

Maintain accurate and compliant medical records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABMS or AOA).

Active Louisiana medical license or eligibility to obtain.

DEA registration with full prescriptive authority.

Commitment to providing evidence-based, high-quality care to women across the lifespan.

Skills & Attributes

Strong surgical and clinical skills in obstetrics and gynecology.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for working with patients, families, and team members.

Ability to manage both routine and high-risk obstetric patients.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
