Summary :
The Telecom Specialist III is a senior-level role responsible for advanced support, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunications systems across the organization. This position serves as a technical mentor and project coordinator, ensuring reliable voice and data communication services for healthcare operations. Responsibilities include managing telecom infrastructure, troubleshooting complex issues, coordinating installations, and providing leadership for telecom-related projects. The ideal candidate will have formal technical training beyond high school, at least four years of related experience, and strong knowledge of telecom systems, wiring, cabling, and network integration.
Responsibilities :
- Install, configure, and maintain enterprise telecommunications systems, including VoIP, PBX, and unified communications platforms.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for telecom hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Coordinate and execute telecom projects, including system upgrades, equipment deployments, and infrastructure setups.
- Manage wiring, cabling, and complex equipment installations for voice and data systems.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior telecom staff and field technicians.
- Maintain accurate inventory of telecom hardware and software assets.
- Document configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps for telecom systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to resolve network-related telecom issues.
- Act as primary customer contact for technical and service-related telecom problems.
- Independently manage small-scale telecom projects and departmental moves, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors for service support and project coordination.
Requirements :
Associate degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or related field preferred.3–5 years of experience in telecom systems administration or related field; healthcare experience preferred.Strong knowledge of VoIP technologies, SIP protocols, PBX systems, and telecom infrastructure.Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare communication standards.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex telecom issues.Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.Project coordination or management experience preferred.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to customer sites.Availability for extended on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support urgent telecom needs.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.Additional Requirements
