Account Manager – Technical Sales
Location : Sun Prairie, WI (with travel to client sites as required)
Reports To : Director of Technical Sales
Base salary of $125K plus 5% commission on gross margin profit, with total annual pay estimated at $175K–$200K.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent technical sales experience)
5+ years in account management, technical sales, or project execution within food & beverage, packaging, or automation
Experience managing large, complex accounts and projects ($500k–$5M+)
Strong technical knowledge of process design, packaging, controls, and turnkey project delivery
Proven ability to grow accounts while maintaining gross margin discipline
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Proficiency with CRM / ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Willingness to travel up to 40–50%

The Account Manager – Technical Sales plays a critical role in managing and expanding key Tier 1 and Tier 2 customer relationships. Combining strong commercial acumen with technical expertise, this role ensures delivery of high-value, turnkey solutions across process, packaging, automation, and compliance. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Account Manager drives long-term partnerships, recurring revenue opportunities, and overall business growth.
Account Growth & Retention
Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned accounts
Develop and execute account plans focused on revenue growth and multi-project partnerships
Identify opportunities to expand business through CIP systems, automation, service, and packaging solutions
Ensure customer satisfaction and retention through proactive support and problem-solving
Commercial & Technical Leadership
Collaborate with engineering, controls, and project management teams to scope client-focused projects
Support proposal development and pricing strategies
Represent the company at customer sites, trade shows, and industry events
Execute the business development strategy for defined customer profiles and project types
Use CRM / ERP tools to manage pipeline, track account health, and deliver accurate forecasts
Partner with leadership to strengthen sales processes and capture recurring revenue opportunities
