Physician - The primary function of the Physician is to diagnose and treat all ages of patient's illnesses, provide preventative care, educate patients about their health conditions and advocate for their needs within the healthcare system. Identify behavioral, or organizational issues and diagnosed disorders. Research and identify behavioral or emotional issues, such as anxiety and depression. think critically and exercise ethical judgement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Duties include, but not limited to :
- Provides direct patient care to adult, pediatric, prenatal, and gynecological patients, including conducting medical and psychoanalysis social histories, performing physical exams making diagnostic and / or therapeutic decisions, discussing and implementing treatment and care plan with patients, arranging appropriate follow-up care, and updating patient records accordingly.
- Ensure all medical records are accurate and up to date for all patient encounters.
- Addresses and documents completion of required performance measures to include : a review of patient history and treatment, appropriate testing, and patient education.
- Review laboratory findings, as needed.
- Provides medical consultation for prevention, treatment, care, and diagnosis of health conditions and problems.
- Provides medical consultation to mid-level practitioners, staff nurses, and other support staff.
- Consults with other physicians concerning the medical histories of patients.
- Provide prenatal patient check-ups during each trimester of pregnancy, discussing complications with obstetricians, and arranging referrals to other physicians or facilities and reviewing ultrasound exams performed by nurses at WCCH.
- Reviews and completes all requests from third-party providers regarding orders, special care items, and other medical needs of current patients.
- Consults with WCCH employees on medical and / or laboratory procedures, review medical records and patient questions and concerns and monitor laboratory procedures, including quality assurance.
- Performs physicals, sexually transmitted disease (STD) exams, breast exams, and pelvic exams, monitoring changes and maintaining accurate files.
- Reviews diagnostic procedures and lab tests.
- Consults with office staff and other health care professionals regarding patient care, as needed.
- Oversees the limited pharmaceutical program.
- Educates patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, as appropriate.
- Addresses and documents completion of required performance measures to include patient education, appropriate testing, and review of patient history and treatment.
- Assists in developing short-term and long-term health care goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and the plans and programs directed toward their achievement.
- Assists in implementing a comprehensive health education program, including the development of health education materials for patients
Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
