Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Level 1 Trauma and strong scrub and circulate skills for a 13-week contract in Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital Operating Room within a Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Day shift schedule of 5x8s, 6 : 30 AM to 3 : 00 PM, with no block scheduling
  • Required to work every other weekend, two weekends per month
  • One 12-hour on-call shift per month on a weekend, either 7 AM-7 PM or 7 PM-7 AM, with no weekday call
  • Mandatory float to other units or facilities within 50 miles may be required
  • Patient cases include Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery
  • Preferred cases include Neurosurgery, Open Heart / Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology
  • Uses Cerner for charting; experience preferred
  • Expected to provide direct perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in a fast-paced trauma environment
  • Navy blue scrubs are provided
  • Parking is available for a fee with shuttle transportation to the facility
  • No block scheduling or special schedule requests allowed
  • Time off requests are limited to 5 days total, with a maximum of 2 consecutive days; no RTO allowed on weekends, holidays, or immediately before / after holidays
  • Strict compliance deadlines and documentation requirements prior to orientation
  • Team-based support structure in place when floating outside of primary competency area

    • Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in hand at time of application
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years recent acute OR experience, including Level 1 Trauma Center exposure
  • Strong scrub and circulate skills required
  • Experience in Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery required
  • Must provide proof of COVID vaccination prior to start date
  • Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility to be considered local
