  • Job Summary

    Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring three (3) Student Services Analysts to support Academic Advisement. This position coordinates, administers and implements student academic advisement programs for an assigned Field of Interest (FOI) and / or specialty cohort(s) by providing operational planning, program management and evaluation, direct student service delivery, as well as problem-resolution, and technical assistance.

    Essential Functions

    30% - Academic Advising & Student Support

    Provides professional-level academic advising to a caseload of students through individual and group sessions. Supports onboarding, retention, and degree completion by guiding students in goal setting, course selection, registration, and academic progress using PeopleSoft and other technologies. Advises on transfer pathways, certificate / degree options, and satisfactory academic standing.

    30% - Holistic Student Engagement & Resource Connection

    Identifies academic and co-curricular opportunities, including extracurriculars, study abroad, research, and internships. Consults with students to align options with their goals and interests. Serves as a primary liaison to connect students with academic and personal resources such as tutoring and counseling. Conducts proactive follow-up and monitors progress using reporting tools to ensure learning outcomes are met.

    20% - Institutional Collaboration & Programmatic Support

    Supports Guided Pathways and case management advising models through change management activities. Collaborates with academic units and student services across the college and district to enhance student success. Acts as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates with partners to promote programs and delivers training on advising-related topics. Interprets and communicates college and district policies.

    10% - Orientation & Engagement Initiatives

    Coordinates and participates in student orientation and engagement activities. Supports new and prospective students through information sessions, presentations, and outreach efforts. Collaborates with student organizations and campus partners to foster a welcoming and informed student experience. Develops and maintains program resources, informational materials, and communications to support student integration and success.

    10% - Research & Professional Development

    Research industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance advising services. Attends meetings, training, and professional development sessions. Performs other duties as assigned, commensurate to the grade level of the position.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

    OR

    Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

    Desired Qualifications

    a. Minimum one (1) year of experience providing academic and / or career advising in a college or university setting.

    b. At least one (1) year of experience working with student services procedures (e.g., admissions, registration), utilizing Student Information Systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner), and applying federal / state regulations (e.g., FERPA, course applicability).

    c. One (1) year of experience implementing guided pathways and supporting academic program selection using fields of interest, particularly for specialized student populations (e.g., first-generation, adult learners).

    d. One (1) year of experience tracking student cohorts and applying strategies to improve persistence, retention, and completion.

    e. One (1) year of experience delivering presentations to large groups in public or educational settings.

    f. One (1) year of experience using degree audit systems, advisement platforms, learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard), and supporting specialized student populations.

    Special Working Conditions

  • Work hours are typically standard, however there are weekends and evenings that may be required
  • May be required to view a computer monitor for a prolonged period of time
  • This position is required to work 100% on campus.
