Job description

JOB TITLE : Title  Searcher

JOB SUMMARY :

Our searcher is responsible for the day-to-day creation of real property searches, for researching public records, and for compiling all information pertaining to customer orders. S / He obtains the required information from tract index or county courthouses to prepare property reports. Our searcher must include the general indices of current and prior owners, including the new purchaser (if applicable), utilizing computers and reader printers. This position must maintain regular customer contact.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Prepares property reports, name searches, and updates through the current date by transcribing the postings from the tract index books, Property Index, and General Index.
  • Searches for reference material filed on property (e.g., image documents, tax information, and maps).
  • Posts orders to spreadsheets / software and tracks orders for timely delivery to customers.
  • Prepares monthly statement of charges to customers.
  • Answers all customer telephone inquiries.
  • Prepares documents for posting (e.g., running legal descriptions to determine arbitrary numbers).
  • Posts and verifies documents in both the Property and General indexes.
  • Files resource materials as requested by supervisor.
  • Travels to and from county courthouses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Adheres to company policies and guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS : EXPERIENCE :

  • Two (2) years of land title experience is preferred.
  • EDUCATION :

  • A high school diploma is required.
  • CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, INSURANCE :

  • A valid state driver’s license is required.
  • KNOWLEDGE :

  • A working knowledge of industry documentation (e.g., Grant Deeds and Trust Deeds) and their effects against real property is preferred.
