Security Officer
Ensures the safety and security of patients, guests, employees, and property by enforcing policies and procedures in a professional and courteous manner. This role includes general security duties and specialized canine handling responsibilities. The successful candidate for this role will be expected to work overtime on a regular basis.
Job Accountabilities :
- Conduct facility patrols, lock / unlock buildings, and respond to security incidents
- Locate missing patients and mitigate criminal activity
- Enforce security regulations to ensure the safety of all persons and property
- Conduct regular health assessments and preventative medicine for the canine
- Administer emergency first aid measures to the canine
- Conduct daily inspections of the canine to detect early signs of illness, disease, or injury
- Maintain an ongoing preventative medicine program for the canine's overall health care
- Train and maintain the canine's proficiency in obedience, scent detection, and security functions
- Utilize the canine for firearms and explosive detection in accordance with security policies
- Assist in de-escalation efforts and behavioral health response
- Participate in emergency response and preparedness drills
- Perform routine security duties including crime prevention, de-escalation, safety enforcement, and report writing
- Provide public demonstrations of canine capabilities to educate and enhance security presence
- Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards
- Maintain detailed records of canine training, medical care, and deployment activities
- Adhere to safe canine handling practices and ensure the proper care, feeding, and housing of the canine
Education :
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)Certification & Licensure :
Valid Driver's License to operate Sutter Health vehiclesProprietary Private Security Officer within 30 days of start dateK-9 Training within 90 days of hireTypical Experience :
5 years of experience in Security, Law Enforcement, or Military3 years of experience as a certified K-9 handlerSkills and Knowledge :
Proficiency in computer and Windows-based applications for data entry and information retrievalStrong verbal and written communication skillsTechnical knowledge of canine behavior, handling techniques, and emergency first aid for caninesAbility to recognize and differentiate between canine and zoonotic diseases communicable to humansKnowledge of Adam's Law and Megan's LawAbility to work effectively in a team and maintain composure in stressful situationsBasic knowledge of criminal and civil laws and investigative proceduresJob Shift : Day / Evening / Night

Pay Range is $52.44 to $78.66 / hour
