Applications Programmer

Position Title : VB.NET Developer - Finance & HR Systems

Location : Montgomery, Alabama

Clearance Requirements : Must qualify for State of Alabama Merit employment

Position Status : Contract-to-Hire (6 months contract, then conversion to permanent)

Pay Rate : Competitive, based on experience

Position Description :

We are seeking a skilled VB.NET Developer to support the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) Finance and Human Resources systems. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining complex software applications using VB.NET and Microsoft SQL Server . The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in system design, and the ability to work under direct supervision of technical experts. This position is intended to convert to a permanent role within six months.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform complex analysis, design, development, and maintenance using VB.NET and Microsoft SQL
• Define system requirements, write specifications, and design computer systems
• Develop system and program documentation
• Test modifications and enhancements to ensure system integrity
• Debug and resolve production issues following established development standards
• Collaborate with team leads and transfer knowledge to junior programmers as needed
