Assistant Actuary II (League City, TX)

The successful candidate will provide leadership on a range of complex and challenging initiatives related to the development, ongoing management, analysis, and/or reporting of actuarial assumptions and experience data. They will demonstrate thought leadership on assumptions governance, development and recommendation. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining analytical models, using a variety of corporate software tools.

What You'll Do:

• Influence and lead the development of appropriate assumptions and methods for use in various processes including actuarial valuation, cashflow testing, pricing, financial planning etc.
• Analyze trends and patterns to identify areas for improvement and inform assumption setting.
• Support implementation of best practice controls on assumptions. Ensure proper documentation of methodologies, assumptions, code, and results to support transparency and reproducibility.
• Perform and/or lead testing, analysis, and evaluation of experience results, and identify additional analysis needed.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in actuarial roles within the insurance or financial services industry. ASA or near ASA.
• Strong proficiency in actuarial concepts and methodologies, including experience studies, pricing, and reserving.
• Proficient programming skills, with expertise in Python preferred. Familiarity with other programming languages (e.g., R, SQL) is a plus.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development environments is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality work products within established timelines.
