\nSUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL ROLE FUNCTIONS : \n\n
Collect pertinent data about the patient and about the procedure.\n\nProvide information about the procedure to the patient, significant others and health care providers.\n\nProvide the best possible diagnostic study for each patient by applying professional judgment and discretion.\n\nDeliver patient care and service without bias based on personal attributes, nature of the disease, sex, creed, religion or socioeconomic status.\n\nMaintain appropriate credentials and certification related to clinical practice.\n\nUse professional judgment to perform and adapt imaging procedures for quality diagnostic interpretation.\n\nDetermine the need for and use accessory equipment when appropriate.\n\nUse Cerner and PACS appropriately for quality patient care.\n\nRecognize and take advantage of opportunities for educational growth and improvement in technical and problem-solving skills.\n\nCover for peers during vacations and at other times as needed.\n\nCommunicates clearly and concisely within the department and with other hospital departments.\n\nUse an integrated team approach as needed.\n\nParticipate in community activities and other public education to enhance SWMH’s mission and philosophy.\n\nActively participate in professional societies and organizations.\n\nAll other duties as assigned by supervisor.\n\nTreats patients and their families with respect and dignity.\n\nInteracts professionally with patient / family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.\n\nPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical / health care errors.\n\n \n\n4. MINIMUM ROLE REQUIREMENTS : \n\nAdheres to dress code; appearance is clean and neat.\n\nCompletes annual educational requirements, both regulatory and organizational.\n\nMaintains regulatory requirements including all state, federal and accreditation regulations.\n\nEnsures patient confidentiality.\n\nEnsures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control.\n\nRepresents the organization in a positive and professional manner.\n\nComplies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.\n\nCommunicates the mission, vision, and values of the organization.\n\n \n\n \n\n5. ROLE ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS : \n\nRegulatory / Educational Requirements\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\n\nCompletion of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology.\nMust be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.\nMust be registered in four modalities (RT, CT, MR, Nuc, or Mammo).\nCurrent BLS / CPR certification.\nSupervisor Responsibilities\n\nN / A\nLanguage Skills\n\nAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.\nAdditional languages preferred.\nMust be able to communicate with and provide accurate explanations and instructions about the procedure to the patient, significant others and other health care providers.\nMust be able to read, analyze and interpret documents necessary to provide adequate, quality patient care.\nSkills\n\nBasic computer knowledge.\nStrong communication skills.\n\nExcellent customer service skills.\n\nWork Environment\n\nThe job requires potential exposure to infectious waste and an assortment of chemicals and pharmaceuticals as well as foul odors.\n\nThe noise level is moderate to occasionally loud, occasional interactions with belligerent and / or aggressive patients and significant others are possible.\n\nExposure to environmental factors including heat, cold, precipitation such as snow and rain, and wind is possible.\nPhysical Demands\n\nFor physical demands of position, including vision, hearing, repetitive motion and environment, see following description.\n\no Physical Demands (STRENGTH – HEAVY) : Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and / or up to 75 lbs. of force frequently, and / or up to 30 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.\n\no Physical Demands (MOVEMENT) : This position will require the full range of movements, and repetition of motion, to include kneeling, crouching, reaching and feeling.\n\no Physical Demands (AUDITORY) : TALKING - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. HEARING - perceiving the nature of sounds. Used for those activities which require ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sounds.\n\no Physical Demands (VISION) : ACCOMMODATION - Adjustment of lens of eye to bring an object into sharp focus. Use this factor when requiring near point work at varying distances.
