Surgical Tech

Job Summary :

The Surgical Technician assists surgeons and nurses in the operating room by preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting during surgical procedures. The role requires experience in outpatient, community hospital settings, with a focus on orthopedic, neuro, and vascular cases. The Surgical Technician will also be responsible for on-call duties and must be able to respond quickly to the facility when needed.

Responsibilities :

• Preparing the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
• Assisting surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and providing other assistance as directed.
• Maintaining a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.
• Monitoring patients' vital signs during surgical procedures.
• Maintaining accurate records of surgical procedures.
• Answering unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
• Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems. Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
• Performs selected patient registration activities.
• Coordinates equipment / supply needs. Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
• Performs any other related duties (e.g., clerical, technical duties) as assigned.
