Job Summary :
The Surgical Technician assists surgeons and nurses in the operating room by preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting during surgical procedures. The role requires experience in outpatient, community hospital settings, with a focus on orthopedic, neuro, and vascular cases. The Surgical Technician will also be responsible for on-call duties and must be able to respond quickly to the facility when needed.

Responsibilities :
- Preparing the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
- Assisting surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and providing other assistance as directed.
- Maintaining a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs during surgical procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records of surgical procedures.
- Answering unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems. Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment / supply needs. Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs any other related duties (e.g., clerical, technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications :
Minimum of 1 year of surgical tech experience.Experience in outpatient, community hospital, ORTHO, Neuro, Vascular cases.BLS certification.Preferred Skills & Certifications :
Experience in inpatient and trauma cases.Special Considerations :
Must include all RTO requests at the time of submission; approval will be based on facility needs.Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.Must be able to cover one night shift within their contract as needed.Scheduling :
Start times vary : 7am, 9am, and 11am.12-hour shifts.Weekend requirement : 3 per schedule.On-call requirement : One weeknight per week and every 2nd or 3rd Saturday or Sunday from 0700 - 0700 (20-minute response time).
