Job description

Job Summary : The Embedded Die Repair Associate plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day production operations within Pratt Industries in Carlisle, P.A. This associate is responsible for performing on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and revisions of dies used in the manufacturing process. Working directly within the production environment, this role ensures minimal downtime by providing timely support for die-related issues. The associate will collaborate closely with Pratt Industries production, tooling, and engineering teams to inspect, repair, revise, and improve die performance, contributing to quality, safety, and efficiency standards. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, precision work, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Third Shift Hours : 11 : 00 pm - 7 : 00 am

Objective : To ensure press ready tooling is delivered to press side maximizing customer workflow in the most efficient way, always watching and listening for new techniques or concepts and relaying those ideas to the Stafford management team.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair / revise dies during production to prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Perform die revisions and / or replacement of worn or broken components.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to address recurring tooling concerns.
  • Document repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance activities in the on-site DPS system.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to all safety and quality protocols.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling performance and life cycle.
  • Operate toolroom machinery, not limited to, grinders, chisels, and jigs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership (at Pratt Industries and Stafford Cutting Dies) regarding tool conditions and repair needs.
  • Responsible for housekeeping of assigned work area
  • Responsible for maintaining diemaking equipment to OEM standards
  • Responsible for maintaining acceptable levels of inventory
  • Responsible for organized storage of inventory

Experience Preferred, but not required :

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of die-cutting and / or manufacturing facilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-pace sometimes stressful environment.
