Job Description
Reporting to the Development Engineer, the Associate Engineer is responsible for managing R&D projects throughout the factory, making sure components, building, curing, and testing are all completed as per R&D instructions, and on time.
Standard Work
- Checks test series component availability and quality
 - Organizes component production in special circumstances
 - Coordinates with production on test series builds in accordance with the test series schedule
 - Follows test tires through paint, curing, and finishing
 - Coordinates uniformity testing and tire quarantine
 - Provides production with TBM recipes
 - Assists in production trials as necessary
 - Maintains recipe books for profile drawings
 - Participates in the testing and launching of new products at Dayton factory
 - Follows new products in early stages of production to ensure quality is maintained
 - Confirms test components are produced with strict quality tolerances
 - Coordinates component and tire building with the production team to adhere to specified deadlines
 - Provides tires for DOT testing and organizes quarantine of test materials
 - Supports production trials of new materials
 - Submits proposals on the optimization of tire building and curing recipes
 - Compiles trial data and provides necessary reports to related personnel
 - Maintains all necessary records in the working documentation and enters data into computer-aided production control systems in accordance with the Company’s internal procedures
 - Gathers data for Development Engineers and participates in projects and programs
 - Ensures recipes are provided for production in a timely manner in accordance with the production plan
 - Supports quality investigations and root cause analysis as needed
 - All other duties as required
 
Skills
Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply statistics to problem solvingStrong problem solving skills required using established methodologies including 8-D, 5-WHY, Ishikawa, etc.Knowledge of technological processes and production modesKnowledge of main process and design data of the manufactured productsKnowledge of quality standardsAbility to identify production defects and develop methods to prevent defectsTime management and organization skillsAttention to detailStrong computer skills including basic knowledge of computer-based manufacturing applications. High School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree in a technical field or working towards an associate’s degree2 years minimum working experience in tire manufacturingExperience with Lean Principles preferredMust be legally authorized to work in the United States.
