Migration Consultant

Remote

We're looking for a resource that could assist with migration from P8 to P10. Looking for possibly a 6 month commitment. Here's more detail below.

  • Migration Buckets, expect 15-20 LPARs migrated per weekend :

LPM to P10s : Standard migration tasks.

  • LPM to P10s with Re-sizing : Includes resizing tasks once migrated to P10s.
  • Other Tasks : May involve additional tinkering, upgrades, and other tasks such as SMT mode change. (expect 2-5% of total to fit in this category)
  • Responsibilities :

    • Process Review : Ensure that the processes being implemented are in line with the documentation.

  • Documentation Verification : Confirm that all steps and procedures are accurately documented and followed.
  • Escalation Point : Act as the primary escalation point during the actual cutovers.
  • Planning and SME Tasks : Focus on planning and providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) rather than hands-on operational work.
  • Collaboration with Ops Team : The Operations team will handle the actual migration work, but the resource will support them through planning and oversight.
  • Skills and Experience :

    • Migration Expertise : Proven experience in similar AIX migration projects.

  • Power Expertise : Familiar with IBM Power 8 and 10 systems.
  • Documentation Skills : Ability to verify and ensure accuracy in documentation.
  • Problem-Solving : Capable of handling escalations and providing solutions during cutovers.
  • Communication : Excellent communication skills to coordinate with the Ops team and other stakeholders.
