Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with a NM or compact license, requiring at least two years of PACU experience and multiple certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the PACU and pre-op areas of a hospital surgical department
  • Day shift with rotating 8- and 10-hour shifts; start times vary by phase or department
  • Pre-op start time is 0545, PACU post-op start time is 0730
  • Floating between departments and to local locations within 20 miles is required
  • EPIC EMR system is used; on-site training provided
  • Provide comprehensive perioperative care including patient assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, and monitor patient responses
  • Coordinate care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team
  • Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as required
  • Complete unit-specific population, procedure, protocol education, and competency testing
  • Return travelers or perm staff must wait one year before being eligible for consideration
  • First-time travelers are not eligible; prior travel experience is required

  • Active RN license from New Mexico or a compact state required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
  • At least two years of recent PACU experience required
  • At least one previous 13-week travel assignment required
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
  • Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias (BCA) test during orientation; failure on second attempt results in dismissal
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
