Job Description

Position : Phlebotomist - Laboratory Assistant

Job Details :

Performs routine pediatric and adult phlebotomy

Creates patient requisitions in the Laboratory Information System

Logs, labels, and processes specimens and paperwork for testing.

Orders, unpacks, logs and stores supplies.

Transcription and data entry.

Promptly and courteously answer phones and take accurate messages when needed.

Maintains the confidentiality of client information.

Helps to ensure draw stations and laboratory areas are neat and clean.

Uses and wears protective equipment and clothing as appropriate. Incumbent is responsible for becoming familiar with and following all safety procedures. Properly reports all incidents.

Maintains cooperative working relationships.

Demonstrates effective two-way communication to create an informed positive environment.

Demonstrates initiative in making suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity and provides consistent feedback.

Organizes and processes clinical specimens accurately. Identifies worksheet, computer and specimen problems and demonstrates ability to either resolve or elevate to licensed personnel appropriately.

Supports non-technical duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum 2 years pediatric phlebotomy experience

Valid California State Phlebotomist License or State approved equivalent required.

Computer Skills : word processing skills using Windows based software (Word, Excel, etc.)

Typing skills desired.
