We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing financial records, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with industry and organizational standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to key accounting processes while supporting audits, inventory management, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities :

• Provide technical expertise in accounting practices for various organizational programs, including retail and development initiatives.
• Maintain and analyze general and subsidiary ledgers, ensuring accurate asset depreciation control.
• Coordinate and oversee year-end retail inventories, physical inventory adjustments, and audit processes.
• Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements to ensure compliance with organizational finance procedures.
• Design and monitor accounting systems tailored to the needs of retail and hospitality operations.
• Record and manage financial transactions related to investments, reserves, and employee bonuses.
• Assist with audit preparation by reviewing reports, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective measures.
• Recommend updates to accounting procedures to align with industry standards and organizational requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with internal personnel and conduct advisory visits to enhance field operations.
• Minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience or equivalent educational background.
• Advanced proficiency in General Ledger management and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Certification in defense financial management or a similar credential is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and related accounting practices.
• Demonstrated experience in journal entries and general ledger reconciliation.
