Lakeshore Talent is partnering with a leading healthcare organization in the Chicago area in their search for an HR Onboarding Specialist. This role plays a key part in ensuring a smooth and compliant onboarding experience for new hires across multiple departments.
This role will be FULLY REMOTE, but qualified applicants must reside in the Chicago area and be able to pick up equipment from Lake Forest, IL on Day 1.
Position : Onboarding Specialist (Contract)
Location : Remote – must reside in the greater Chicago area for one-time, on-site orientation
Schedule : Full-time, Monday through Friday (8 : 30 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m.)
Contract Length : 26 weeks, with potential for extension or permanent hire
Target Start Date : October 27
Pay rate : $25-$30
Responsibilities :
Oversee and manage the end-to-end onboarding process for assigned departments, serving as the subject matter expert and main point of contact for new hires.
Provide advanced support on complex onboarding cases, including troubleshooting system or compliance issues and coordinating resolutions across HR, IT, and other functional areas.
Partner cross-functionally to ensure new employees have a seamless experience from offer to start date.
Verify completion of all required onboarding documents and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Conduct and review background checks, credential verifications, and occupational health clearances in accordance with internal and legal standards.
Audit and maintain accurate hire data across multiple systems and platforms.
Support technical troubleshooting within the applicant tracking and onboarding systems.
Communicate clearly and professionally with candidates, hiring managers, and HR partners regarding offer status, compliance, and onboarding progress.
Handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity and discretion.
Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to documentation and training materials.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Prior experience in Human Resources or onboarding administration.
Strong ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proven technical aptitude and comfort working across multiple HR systems.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred :
HR certification (PHR or equivalent).
Additional Requirements :
Proof of COVID-19 and seasonal flu vaccination (medical exemption for COVID accepted; no exemptions for flu).
