Communicate with physicians, nursing director, and coworkers about changes in patient clinical conditions. Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Demonstrate competency in knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition. Perform head-to-toe assessments on all patients and conduct reassessments as per policy, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Revise the plan of care as indicated by patient response to treatment and evaluate the overall plan daily for effectiveness. Formulate teaching plans based upon identified learning needs and evaluate the effectiveness of learning, including family involvement as appropriate. Utilize pain management assessment techniques and educate patients and families regarding pain management. Demonstrate ability to perform treatments and provide nursing services. Have knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identify dysrhythmias, and report appropriately. Communicate professionally with nursing director, coworkers, and physicians. Consult with other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. Provide care appropriate to patient condition and age, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills. Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations. Treat patients and families with respect and dignity. Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious / spiritual needs of patients and families. Serve as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care. Document care in a manner that meets current standards and policies, ensuring legibility and accuracy. Identify and address psychosocial needs of patients and families, and communicate with social services as needed. Safely manage and operate equipment, sending requisitions for repairs when necessary. Coordinate and supervise patient care as required. Assist in understanding and implementing core measures. Professional Requirements : Meet dress code standards of the assigned nursing unit; maintain a neat and clean appearance. Complete annual educational requirements. Maintain regulatory requirements. Uphold patient confidentiality at all times. Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated time. Wear identification while on duty; use computerized punch time system correctly. Attend annual review and department in-services as scheduled. Participate in at least 75% of staff meetings annually. Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner. Actively participate in quality improvement activities. Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department. Language Skills : Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Skills : Basic computer knowledge. Physical Demands : Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands repetitively, reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and taste or smell. Required to hear alarms on equipment, client calls, and instructions. Occasionally required to sit. Must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color identification, and the ability to adjust focus.
