Technology and Digital Literacy Program offered at Helping Link
Focused primarily on computers and iPad / iPhone use, this course meets weekly to instruct adult and elder clients on basic technology use in order to help them develop skills necessary for employment and day-to-day needs and opportunities. The course also teaches clients to use technology and social media to maintain communication, navigate around the city, and stay connected with their community. Our clients are given new means to assimilate to their new home. This, along with the relationships forged among clients and volunteers, helps build confidence and prevents the isolation common to immigrant communities.
In the iPhone / iPad section, clients learn to optimize its functions, which includes image sharing, translating text, app downloading (i.e., Zoom, app functions), map utilization, storage management, etc. The Digital Literacy section includes a bilingual Vietnamese and English computer manual, which provides a comprehensive understanding of the basic computer functions and tips to becoming familiar with the computer programs.
Open to all, particularly Vietnamese speakers.

Helping Link
Helping Link / M?t D?u N?i, a community organization, has been serving the Puget Sound area Vietnamese American community for more than 30 years. We provide community-strengthening activities that empower and help our clients and students become decision-makers with a stake in the systems that impact their lives. Helping Link works to support them in bridging the gap of language and technology with English as a Second Language (ESL), citizenship, tutoring, and technology classes for youth, adults, and seniors. Our programs are offered in a bilingual context and in a supportive, family-friendly, and culturally appropriate atmosphere. Helping Link's services help our students acquire the language, technical, and cultural skills necessary to thrive in their adopted country, including passing the citizenship exam to become engaged citizens and voters. Tutoring and mentoring programs help young people in our community gain self-confidence and social skills that support them to stay in school and work toward a bright future.
