Come join The Crucible as a Part-Time Studio Operations Technician for the opportunity to use your mechanical, facilities maintenance and safety skills in service to a fantastic arts education nonprofit located in West Oakland!

The Seasonal Studio Operations Technicians work as a part of a team to build, organize, clean, maintain, and supervise the studios and facilities for our summer programming. Reporting to the Director of Studio Operations and Facilities, the Studio Operation Technician ensures that faculty, staff and students comply with safety regulations and protocols, respond to emergency situations as needed to maintain safe, efficient operations of the classes and the facilities, and maintain Crucible tools and assets.

Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• A minimum of one (1) year of previous work experience and knowledge and familiarity with materials used to perform various building, mechanical, and maintenance repair tasks.
• Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Experience with the use and care of hand and power equipment necessary to perform various building and maintenance repairs.
• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service orientation
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage special projects.
• Intermediate proficiency with the Google Suite including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sheets
• Learning orientation and willingness to learn new skills in a variety of industrial arts
• Willing to complete Cal-OSHA 30, Forklift Certification, Adult / Child CPR & First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogen training within thirty (30) days of hire
• Proven track record of punctuality and attendance
• Pleasant, considerate, and respectful demeanor to children and adults at all times
• Valid California driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
• Ability to complete California DOJ LiveScan for youth-serving organizations.

Benefits & Compensation

This is a non-exempt position based in Oakland, CA. Our work environment is casual, upbeat, professional, and fun. This is a part-time position, up to 20 hours per week and has a variable schedule 7 days per week, 8 : 30 am – 10 : 00 pm. The starting pay for this position is $25.75 per hour.
