Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to everyone, including subcontractors
- Collaborate with craft daily to encourage buy-in of the safety program and support craft ownership
- Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies and work plans
- Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field based on leading indicators and upcoming work
- Encourage, support, and advise staff and craft employees to execute the SSSP
- Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with OSHA / MSHA regulations and policies, including accident / injury files
- Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with emergency medical services and clinics
- Assist with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions
- Complete a daily documented hazard inspection and assist with corrective actions
- Review work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans prior to the start of work
- Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, OSHA / MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client requirements
Qualifications
OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certificationsDegree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field preferredKnowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirementsCertification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician preferredWorking knowledge of computers with Microsoft Word and ExcelStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detail and ability to recognize discrepanciesStrong work ethic; willingness to do what is needed to get the job doneAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environmentsOther common names for this role include : Project Safety Coordinator, Onsite Safety Coordinator, Field Safety Coordinator, "Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator", EH&S Coordinator
