Prep Cook

At The Wild Thyme Company, we handcraft delicious, local, and seasonal cuisine without global boundaries. With our innovative approach to catering, we set the bar for events and corporate dining experiences in San Diego.
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team at a new location in Carmel Valley! This role is essential to ensuring our kitchen runs smoothly and that our handcrafted food is always fresh, consistent, and event-ready.
Responsibilities
- Assist chefs with daily food preparation for a wide variety of catering styles and events
- Wash, chop, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and standards
- Maintain proper labeling, storage, and rotation of food items (FIFO)
- Ensure food quality and consistency while meeting portion and presentation standards
- Support freezer pulls and inventory management as directed
- Keep prep and production areas clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team to meet deadlines and event schedules

Requirements
Previous experience as a prep cook or in a professional kitchen (catering experience a plus)Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic cooking techniquesAbility to follow recipes and detailed instructionsOrganized, efficient, and able to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of timeTeam player with a positive attitude and passion for foodSchedule
Monday – Friday | 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PMOccasional nights and weekends for special eventsCompensation & Benefits
