Position Summary : This position exists to deliver incoming freight and parcel shipments from vendors and other sources to campus departmental recipients in an accurate and timely manner. Position also delivers mail and picks up shredding and scanning work orders at various campus locations. This position will be a member of the game day operations crew as well as facilitate event rental setups and teardowns in addition to pickup and delivery of storage items to and from the warehouse. Position must also exercise and maintain accountability for items in custody including appropriate recordkeeping.

Minimum Qualifications : To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials :

  • Two (2) years of experience operating equipment appropriate to the work assignment.

Preferred Qualifications : The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position :

  • Experience in processing inbound shipments and facilitating deliveries for a company and / or government entity with a preference in higher education or a large organization.
  • Experience in logistics, warehousing, and facilitating events.
  • Experience driving and navigating the CSU campus community.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Experience pulling and backing up various trailers in tight and congested areas.
  • Proficient with MS Office, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook as well as logistics software and technology.
  • Current CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
  • Experience operating Box Trucks under 26,000 GVWR in a route structure.
  • Directly related state service experience.
  • Essential Job Duties :

    Job Duty Category : Driving and Delivery

    Duty / Responsibility : Operates two-ton capacity single axel vehicles to deliver and pick up all incoming freight, parcels, mail, shredding, and scanning at university department's campus locations. Obeys all traffic and safety laws, rules, and policies while delivering and / or picking up from the campus community. Moves boxes occasionally weighing more than 100 lbs with a hand truck. Moves other freight shipments sometimes weighing in excess of 2,000 lbs. with the use of forklift truck, pallet jack or other material handling equipment. Verifies delivery acknowledgement (signed forms or electronic equivalent) agrees with manifests to complete the chain of custody and accountability for which this position is responsible from Central Receiving dock to campus delivery locations. Reconciles any differences and reports problems to the Central Receiving supervisor and or lead supervisor as appropriate.

    Job Duty Category : Shipping & Receiving

    Duty / Responsibility : Cross trained and assists in both receiving freight and parcels from vendors and commercial carriers by unloading freight / parcels using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck and / or other material handling equipment necessary to the task. Processes inbound freight and parcels through receiving software for proper routing to location on campus. Facilitates the shipping of freight and parcels moving outbound to the appropriate carrier.

    Job Duty Category : Parcel Sortation & Route Design

    Duty / Responsibility : Uses the established delivery priority system to prepare goods for delivery to the campus department by sorting items by the delivery route then loading vehicles according to the delivery sequence of the route. Factors in environmental constraints such as road closure, weather conditions, student traffic to load CSU trucks for delivery. Uses training and experience to assure that truck loads are balanced to minimize damage to loads and equipment and injury to personnel.

    Job Duty Category : Compliance & Regulation

    Duty / Responsibility : Uses Federal, State, University and industry rules, regulations, and guidelines for the safe and efficient handling of hazardous materials, perishables, biomedical supplies, live animals and plants or any other shipment requiring special attention. Attends training as appropriate to assure safe handling of hazardous materials. While this position normally does not open any containers or actively work with these materials, Department of Transportation hazardous material emergency procedures and precautions must be known as a contingency measure.

    Job Duty Category : Events & Warehouse

    Duty / Responsibility : Communicate and coordinate with the campus community on event rental setup and teardown in accordance with the services offered by the Departments of Central Receiving. Load, setup, teardown, and put away event rental equipment pre and post event. Setup and teardown road barricades at campus events as well as other events within the Northern Colorado community. Load, move, store and in some cases re-deliver warehouse storage requests to off campus warehouse location.
