We are currently looking to fill a Behavioral Health Director role at our HQ Center.

SALARY: The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $100,000 and $119,000 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement clinical practices and service models for behavioral health services across the agency. Provides leadership in program planning and implementation to optimize quality, achievement of health outcomes, efficiency, financial sustainability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide clinical consultation and clinical support.
  • In partnership with Executive Directors and/or the Vice President of Program Development and Operations, provide guidance and oversight of challenging clinical situations with a focus on ensuring the highest quality services are provided, and a focus on mitigating risk. Has the final clinical decision on risk laden client situations.
  • In partnership with VP of Program Development, Executive Directors, Evaluation and Outcomes department, Program Directors and supervisors, analyze data and make recommendations based on findings to ensure that agency/program goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Provide guidance and input into grant applications to ensure alignment with current BH systems and practices, as well as the proposed outcomes and deliverables. Once a grant is secured, provides recommendations and guidance in the program planning and implementation.
  • Provide EDs, PDs, supervisors and team members support and guidance about how to achieve behavioral health performance expectations.
  • In partnership with Executive Directors, VP of Program Development and Operations, and Intake Staff, support the Integration of behavioral health services with other service lines across the agency, in order to create a seamless system of care for clients.
  • Standardize and develop management practices and monitoring tools to assure best practices and alignment with agency values and strategic goals for all areas of behavioral health including but not limited to psychiatric, crisis services, outpatient services, case management, and care coordination.
  • Ensure management practices, monitoring tools, and policies support consistent deployment and service provision within the behavioral health service line and across MFS sites, centers and teams.
  • Ensure the BH service delivery system is aligned with billing system, quality management system and operational systems to ensure highest quality behavioral health services, minimize risk for MFS clients and staff, and prevent agency liabilities.
  • Collaborate with and provide leadership to internal and external constituents in developing strategic and innovative behavioral health programs and services that are responsive to changing individual, family and community needs, changing funder requirements and changing compliance requirements; and to achieve appropriate service integration.
  • Assure behavioral health service documentation system is aligned with accreditation and funder mandates.
  • In partnership with IT, Evaluation and Outcomes, Operations, and Revenue Cycle Management, provide BH clinical and operations guidance to ensure the effectiveness of the technology that supports BH services, including the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • In collaboration with the Agency Training Manager, ensure staff training for BH services is current with best practice standards, funding and accreditation requirements. Collaborate with the MFS Training Manager, Executive Directors,
    and other management to support the development of staff to strengthen cohesiveness, performance and contribution to agency. Working with the Director Government Affairs, understand the impact of changing state and federal legislation would have on behavioral health. Help coordinate efforts among internal constituents to advocate for just policies and laws.
  • Identify, develop and cultivate strategic partnerships, affiliations and alliances that support the mission, growth and success of the agency and its behavioral health programs and services.
  • Represent the Agency at external meetings and develop relationships with key representatives of private, public, and nonprofit sectors to enhance the Agency’s understanding of emerging opportunities and to generate awareness of the Agency’s work and mission.
  • Champion a spirit of collaborative and open communication across all Agency departments and program operations to bridge multiple sites, ensure program alignment, program efficiencies, and cross continuum of program services.
  • Inform/provide input in hiring of BH program directors and supervisors
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated success in increasing levels of management, including supervision of management staff and oversight of behavioral health services.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in improving organizational processes. Highly developed skills in change management and driving organizational process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative relationship with program staff, leadership staff and administration.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and ability to meet
    multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with ability to work independently and take ownership of a process or an issue.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness and a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Mission driven and client focused.
  • Ability to operate both hands-on and tactical, as well as at a strategic level.
  • Ten years in behavioral health services or other related fields, including experience with program development, program delivery, supervision of clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a history of strong decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and team-building skills.
  • Mobility to travel throughout metropolitan Chicago required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Illinois LCSW or LCPC

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactorily pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks.

TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
