The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry is seeking a Senior Dental Assistant to join our Graduate Orthodontics team. This position provides chair side dental assistance, prepares and sterilizes equipment, documents patient care, takes and develops x-rays along with provides administrative assistance.
Duties :
- Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures to include but not limited to placement of bases and liners and placement and removal of rubber dams, insertion, finishing, and removal of temporary restorations.
- Prepares set-up trays for anesthetic, operative, prosthetic, periodontal, prophylactic, endodontic, and orthodontic dentistry. Prepares dental equipment and materials for treatment.
- Takes and develops dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Performs patient charting as instructed by the dentist.
- Follows infection control protocol and prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
- Greets patient and gets them situated in the treatment room.
- Provides patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.
- Takes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
- May perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer. Schedules appointments, answers phones, data entry, and orders supplies.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.
