Job description

Sterilization Tech I

Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs duties in assigned areas which may include surgery suites sterilizer, decontamination, case carts, and sterile lockers. Decontaminates and sterilizes surgical instruments, equipment and supplies utilized in a variety of procedures.

Qualifications

Education

Preferred

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Experience : Preferred

  • One year or more of sterile processing experience

    • Certification / Licensure :

    Required

  • Must sit for Healthcare Sterile Processing Association's (HSPA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification exam at least once within twelve (12) months of start date

    • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)

  • Required within eighteen (18) months of start date
  • Certification requirement can be substituted for the Sterilization Tech I position with ten (10) or more years of direct sterile processing experience at departmental leadership's discretion.
