We are searching for a Per Diem Phlebotomist to float between our northwest suburban offices, including Hoffman Estates, Vernon Hills, and Glenview. This is a per diem role with flexible hours between 6 : 15 AM - 12 : 30 PM. The pay range for this position is $21-$24 / hr.
Overview :
The Phlebotomist plays a vital role in supporting our patients and clinical team through high-quality specimen collection, patient care, and lab coordination. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient interaction. The ideal candidate is experienced in high-volume clinical environments and committed to upholding the highest standards in lab safety, accuracy, and professionalism.
How You'll Contribute :
Perform venipuncture and collect blood, urine, and tissue specimens using proper techniques and Universal PrecautionsConfirm lab orders in ArtWorks, verify patient identity, and ensure accurate specimen collection and labelingFollow insurance guidelines and complete necessary consent forms prior to specimen collectionProcess specimens for in-house or external testing (e.g., Quest, LabCorp, ACL, genetic panels)Maintain cleanliness and proper stocking of phlebotomy and clinical areasEnsure biohazard and sharps disposal procedures are followedClinical & Patient Interaction :
Provide timely and compassionate service to patientsSupport nurses with specimen-related workflows and patient follow-upsCommunicate clear expectations around results timelines and next stepsMaintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to HIPAA at all timesDocumentation & Compliance :
Utilize EMR systems (ArtWorks, external lab portals) for orders, documentation, and results trackingEnsure all lab equipment receives timely preventive maintenanceParticipate in continuing education (quarterly CE requirements) and complete required trainings (e.g., Zika, Ovulation Induction modules)Adhere to OSHA and FCI policies for clinical and lab safetyAssist with training and onboarding of new phlebotomy team membersProvide coverage at other clinic locations as needed, including weekendsSkills & Qualifications
High school diploma requiredPhlebotomy certification or diploma requiredCPR certification requiredProficient in venipuncture and clinical specimen processingPrior experience in a fast-paced medical office or fertility clinic strongly preferredFamiliarity with EMR systems and lab portals (ArtWorks, Quest, LabCorp, ACL, etc.)Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitaskAble to work independently and collaboratively within a clinical teamMust be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to start (unless an approved medical or religious exemption is provided)What We Offer :
