Job Description

The Site Safety Manager oversees the implementation and execution of the company’s safety program on industrial construction projects. This position is responsible for managing subcontractor safety programs, supervising site safety coordinators, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a proactive safety culture. The Site Safety Manager provides leadership in high-risk activity planning, case and care management, safety administration, and OCIP / CCIP claim coordination, while driving continuous improvement in safety performance across all project teams.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee all safety operations on-site, ensuring adherence to company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Manage and provide direction to subcontractor safety coordinators, ensuring consistent application of safety policies across all tiers.
  • Review, evaluate, and enforce subcontractor safety plans, including verification of compliance and performance.
  • Lead high-risk activity planning, including crane operations, confined space entry, critical lifts, and hot work activities.
  • Coordinate with project management and field supervision to ensure safety considerations are integrated into daily operations and work planning.
  • Administer OCIP / CCIP programs and coordinate claims management in collaboration with insurance and corporate safety teams.
  • Manage case and care processes for employee injuries, ensuring proper medical coordination, documentation, and return-to-work programs.
  • Conduct site audits, inspections, and safety observations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety and craft training sessions, including new hire orientations, refresher courses, and competency-based instruction.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring implementation of corrective actions.
  • Lead emergency response preparedness and training, ensuring site personnel are equipped and trained in emergency procedures.
  • Promote mental health awareness and support through Mental Health First Aid training and employee engagement.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for safety coordinators and field supervision, modeling a proactive and solutions-oriented safety mindset.

Required Qualifications :

  • Certification : Minimum CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) through BCSP ; CSP or higher-level certifications preferred.
  • OSHA 510-Hour Training (Construction Industry).
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, Narcan, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications.
  • Emergency Procedures and Mental Health First Aid Training.
  • Previous experience in industrial construction safety management.
  • Proven experience managing multiple subcontractor teams and safety professionals on large-scale industrial or heavy construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in complex project environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field.
  • OCIP / CCIP program experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with safety management on projects exceeding $50M in value.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) communication skills a plus.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to work on active industrial and construction sites, including climbing ladders, walking uneven terrain, and exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to travel to project sites as needed.
