REPORTS TO : Managing Prosecuting Attorney

LOCATION : Prosecutors Office, Nespelem WA.

BASIC FUNCTIONS : Exempt. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring proper representation is given to the Tribes in Criminal Proceedings, MINOC proceedings, Range Impoundment hearings, Natural Resource Enforcement hearings, and a variety of civil infraction hearings before the Colville Tribal Court. Incumbent will represent the Tribes in the Healing to Wellness Court and will represent the Tribes in appellate cases before the Colville Tribal Court of Appeals.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Training :

• Requires graduation from a Law School accredited by the American Bar Association.
• Requires incumbent be a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the Colville Tribal Bar in good standing throughout employment.
• Requires a minimum of four (4) years of previous experience as an attorney, preference will be given for prior experience in criminal law, dependency, prosecution, dependency, and / or Indian Law.
• Requires a valid License to practice Law in the State of Washington, and must be able to pass the Colville Tribes' Bar within 90 days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
• Requires a valid Washington State Drivers' License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Note : Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
